History
Between Tournus and Macon, northern France becomes southern France. In the Middle Ages, the linguistic border between the langue d'Oil, spoken in the north, and the langue d'Oc, spoken in the south, passed through here. The land of the poet Lamartine is watered by the Saone and composed of an undulating landscape. The Maconnais region forms a rectangle measuring 50 kilometres from north to south with a width of approximately 15 kilometres. Vines flourish in its warmest areas at altitudes of between 220 and 400 metres. In the Pouilly region of production, two limestone spurs, Solutre and Vergisson, give an unexpected thrust to the landscape. At the base of the Solutre Rock, which was inhabited 35,000 years BC, archaeological digs have revealed a pile of horse bones covering a two-metre-deep surface area of almost 4 hectares. The Pouilly-Fuisse AOC was created in 1936.

Origin
The hills of the Maconnais region form a group of secondary range mountains with north/north-east and south/south-west facing slopes which are separated by parallel faults. The area of appellation encompasses 750 ha which produce 40,000 Hl of wine. Our selection comes from hillside parcels around the village of Fuisse.

Lower and Middle Kimmeridgian limestone and marls.
